Newcastle MiniMeet (Managed by lupestripe)

Ahh...Newcastle upon Tyne. Traditionally home to the "NoTzFurs" group, and as far North as we get before running into Scotland.

Meeting Point: Newcastle Central Railway Station - Noon.

A relaxed and informal meet, come and experience the charm of this unique city that hugs the banks of the River Tyne.

Resurrected in December 2007, the NoTz meets run on the first Sunday of every month and all are welcome to attend.

With some breathtaking architecture and a unique vibe, Newcastle has lots to offer the discerning fur and we hope to vary proceedings with every meet.

Where else can you have a picnic in the park followed by dinner on the beach? Or sit in the shadow of the world famous bridges and soak up the Geordie atmosphere.

Newcastle meets are full of fun and most importantly, they are for you. So if you have any suggestions then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

The next meet dates are:

  • Sunday 4th April 2010
  • Sunday 2nd May 2010
  • Sunday 6th June 2010
  • Sunday 4th July 2010
  • Sunday 1st August 2010
  • Sunday 5th September 2010
  • Sunday 3rd October 2010
  • Sunday 7th November 2010
  • Sunday 5th December 2010

Public Transport

Newcastle is on the East Coast Main Line. There are direct train services from Edinburgh, York and London Kings Cross.

CrossCountry operates direct services from York, Leeds and Sheffield.

TransPennine Express operates direct services from York, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.

Newcastle has an integrated transport network - the Metro. This connects most of the suburbs to the City Centre, as well as North Shields, South Shields, Gateshead and Sunderland.

Metro prices are (return):

  • Zone 1 - £1.90
  • Zone 2 - £2.90
  • Zone 3 - £3.80

If you're travelling around the Nexus area, then a DaySaver will probably work out cheaper. It's valid on the Metro, Shields Ferry and train services between Newcastle and Sunderland and costs £3.90.
